No one was seriously injured this morning when a
Jay
County school bus, a semi and three other vehicles were involved in an accident. The incident occurred shortly after seven this morning, according to Sgt. Rod Russell, of the Indiana State Police. The accident occurred when a semi, driven by Robert E. Wolter, 63, rear-ended a van driven by Jerry W. Loften Jr., 49. Loften’s van then struck an SUV driven by Chandra M. Dawson, 26, and
Dawson ’s SUV then rear-ended a car driven by Michelle R. Wolf, 32. Wolf’s car then struck the
Jay
County school bus, Route 46, driven by Rinada Davis, 47.
Nineteen students were on the bus when the accident occurred, according to Jay School Corporation Superintendent Tim Long.
Two students from the bus were taken to
Jay
County
Hospital with minor injuries and four other people who were involved in the accident were also taken to nearby hospitals. Indiana State Police say none of the injuries appear to be serious.
Long said parents were given a chance to examine their children before deciding whether to send them to school or keep them home for the day.
Indiana State Police cited Wolter, the semi driver, for following too close and for an expired annual inspection on the trailer.
